Sales OKR example

A quarter's revenue objective with the few numbers that predict whether you'll close it.

The goal

Close the quarter's new revenue target

Due the end of the quarter; check in weekly. Numbers are examples - change them to yours.

MetricTargetWhy this number
New ARR closed
Each check-in adds an amount
$0 → $150,000The outcome. Each closed deal is a check-in, so the chart shows whether the pace gets you there.
Demos held
Each check-in adds an amount
10 demos a weekThe leading number: a short week of demos shows up here a month before it shows up in revenue.
Win rate
Each check-in is the new reading
18% → 25%More demos only help if they convert.
Sales cycle length
Each check-in is the new reading
45 days → 35 days (should go down)Shorter cycles pull revenue into the quarter; this one should go down.

GoalNexa forecasts each metric from its check-ins and gives the goal a health badge - on track, at risk or off track - long before the end of the quarter.

In the app

  1. Create your free account and pick "Website" in the first-run steps (or "New goal" on the dashboard).
  2. Add the goal "Close the quarter's new revenue target" with its date, then its 4 metrics - start, target and unit as above. For an amount that adds up, set "Each check-in is" to "An amount to add to the total"; for a target per week or month, set "Target is for".
  3. Set each metric's check-in schedule to "Weekly" so reminders keep the numbers current.

Tips

  • Log each closed deal as its own check-in with the customer in the note - the activity feed becomes the deal log.
  • Several sales teams? Make this a goal template so each team runs its own copy and the totals add up.
