Learn a language goal

Measure the practice and the result: study time, words you know, and real conversations.

The goal

Hold a 20-minute conversation in a new language

Due your trip or deadline; check in weekly. Numbers are examples - change them to yours.

MetricTargetWhy this number
Study time
Each check-in adds an amount
150 minutes a weekA weekly quota of practice, so a missed day can be made up within the week.
Words known
Each check-in is the new reading
300 words → 2,000 wordsA reading from your flashcard app; the trend shows whether vocabulary grows fast enough.
Conversation sessions
Each check-in adds an amount
0 sessions → 24 sessionsSpeaking is the goal; count each real conversation.

GoalNexa forecasts each metric from its check-ins and gives the goal a health badge - on track, at risk or off track - long before your trip or deadline.

- Conversation sessions (unit: sessions): start 0 sessions, target 24 sessions, amounts added up
Check-ins weekly. Show me the draft before creating it, and let me change the numbers.

In the app

  1. Create your free account and pick "Website" in the first-run steps (or "New goal" on the dashboard).
  2. Add the goal "Hold a 20-minute conversation in a new language" with its date, then its 3 metrics - start, target and unit as above. For an amount that adds up, set "Each check-in is" to "An amount to add to the total"; for a target per week or month, set "Target is for".
  3. Set each metric's check-in schedule to "Weekly" so reminders keep the numbers current.

Tips

  • Tell your assistant "30 minutes of Spanish today" - it lands on this week's study time.
  • Write how a conversation went in the check-in's note; the activity becomes your learning log.
