Connect GoalNexa to Claude Desktop

GoalNexa tracks goals with measurable numbers and forecasts whether each one lands by its date. Connected to Claude Desktop, you can plan a goal, log progress and review how you're doing by just asking - "ran 12 km today" is a check-in. Only where custom connectors aren't available - needs Node.js.

What you need

  • A GoalNexa account - the free plan is enough, and the AI connection is in every plan.
  • Claude Desktop (desktop). A personal access token from the MCP access page.

Connect

  1. Create your free account, then on the MCP access page create a personal access token. It replaces <your-token> below (the page can also fill it in for you).
  2. The Claude connector is simpler; use this when custom connectors aren't available to you. Open Settings → Developer → Edit Config (claude_desktop_config.json: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/ on macOS, %APPDATA%\Claude\ on Windows).
  3. Merge this into mcpServers, then restart Claude Desktop. It needs Node.js: mcp-remote bridges the desktop app to this server with your token.

  4. The server must be reachable over HTTPS unless it's on localhost; for plain http:// on another host, add "--allow-http" to args.
  5. Optional: ask your assistant to Install the goalnexa skills from https://goal.pmnexa.com/api/v1/mcp/skills - it then knows how to plan, check in and review.

The header goes through env because a space inside args gets mangled on some platforms.

Check it worked: The tools icon in a new chat lists the server's tools.

  • "How are my goals doing this week?"

Claude Desktop acts as you, with exactly your access, and answers in your language. Check-ins it makes are marked "AI agent" in the goal's activity. Revoke access any time on the MCP access page.
